|
In the year of 1962, as the folk music touched the level of huge success, so the demand to have acoustics of great sounds gets emerged. In that year, Gibson as a challenge to the very famous mahogany Hummingbird model made the first dove acoustic guitar. Today the Epiphone dove acoustic guitar is a version of the dove having low price of Gibson brand. This one is very much acceptable for them who do not have that much money to get the original Gibson guitar. The Epiphone Dove acoustic guitar has neck of maple shape whose back is also of maple shape, which is laminated, and the top is of solid spruce. Its scale length is of 25.5” longer than Hummingbird model which has 24.75”. The larger scale is advantageous in providing high volume, brighter treble and bass.
The Dove guitar consists of- Grover tuners, bridge, the dove pick guard in classic and massive style. Its fingerboard has split parallelograms and it is furnished by strapped buttons. Many of us do not think of expecting too much from this Epiphone Dove model because of its low price. That is why the producers have to cut out some functionality for this cheap price. However, the shape of the neck is not comfortable in holding but it can be managed for playing and is used normally. However, the most noticeable thing in this model is its sound. Cat Stevens held his fans spell bound after playing his song “Father and Son” using this guitar which was nice to be heard. However, it is a low price version of the Gibson, but it is hard to believe that it has nearly the same vibe of Gibson in the tone of this model. It consist of that much thud in it that is indeed good for it. Many people play guitar under the fourth fret. They can be given to play this model to try it to know how it sounds. As a guitarist goes up to the high scale of the fingerboard of the model, the higher strings are found to be very bright in nature, which is expected by everybody from a maple guitar having long scale. Its bass is also very bright having the sound of classic dreadnaught and it is of full in nature. According to the look of the Dove model, its binding is done very properly having a clean look and nice finishing. For its cheaper price and this much qualities, it will attract an emerging folkie to buy it. |
